From your Mac
Email a folder from your Mac.
Compress the folder into a .zip file first, then attach the .zip. Mail Drop, for one, won't send an uncompressed folder.
1. Compress the folder
In Finder or on the desktop, Control-click the folder and choose Compress. You get a .zip with the folder’s name next to it. If you compress several items at once, the file is called Archive.zip.
2. Attach the .zip
- Apple Mail: in a new message, click the attachment button in the toolbar, choose Attach Files, select the .zip and click Choose File. Or drag the .zip into the message.
- Gmail: click Compose, then Attach, choose the .zip and click Open.
The person you send it to double-clicks the .zip to open it. The folder appears next to it.
If it’s too big
Personal Gmail accounts can attach up to 25 MB. Over that, Gmail swaps the file for a Google Drive link. Apple Mail can send up to 5 GB with Mail Drop. See Gmail attachment size limit and File too large for Gmail?
Send the .zip with Sendoff
Sendoff is a Mac app that lives in the notch. Drag the .zip to the notch, pick your accountant, press Send off. It remembers whether they get Gmail or iMessage, and you get three seconds to undo.
