From your Mac
Send a video from your Mac to your iPhone.
If your iPhone is next to you, AirDrop it. If it isn't, or AirDrop won't cooperate, let iCloud carry it.
AirDrop it
- Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are on for both, and your iPhone is within 30 feet (10 meters).
- Select the video in Finder or Photos and click the Share button in the toolbar. If it’s on the desktop, Control-click it and choose Share.
- Choose AirDrop, then pick your iPhone.
If both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account, your iPhone accepts it automatically. A video sent from Photos lands in Photos. If you walk out of range once it’s started, the transfer continues over the internet.
Without AirDrop: iCloud Photos
With iCloud Photos on, any video you add to Photos on your Mac also appears on your iPhone.
- In Photos on your Mac, choose Photos > Settings, click iCloud and select iCloud Photos. Turn it on on your iPhone too, with the same Apple Account.
- Drag the video from Finder into the Photos window, or choose File > Import.
Without AirDrop: iCloud Drive
If you’re signed in to your Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, save or move the video to iCloud Drive. On your iPhone, open the Files app and tap iCloud Drive.
Sending it to someone else’s iPhone?
Send it in Messages. Or, with iCloud Photos on, select it in Photos, click Share and choose Copy iCloud Link, then paste the link into a message. They have 30 days to download it. More in Send a large video from your Mac. Too big? See Compress a video on your Mac.
For the people you send to often, try Sendoff: a Mac app that lives in the notch. Drop the video, pick your mom, press Send off. It goes by iMessage or Gmail, whichever you use with her, and a 48 MB video for someone you usually email goes by iMessage instead.
